It was a busy week in British Ice Hockey, with clubs across the country uniting to remember Andre Payette – the former Coventry Blaze, Newcastle Vipers, Manchester Phoenix, Sheffield Steeldogs, and Whitley Warriors forward. Several eye-catching moments also played out on the ice, including a hattrick for Scott Conway of the Belfast Giants.

Adam Keefe’s side continued their winning start to the season with back-to-back victories over the Glasgow Clan and advanced in the Challenge Cup as a result.

“Right from the drop of the puck, our guys were ready to go tonight,” Keefe said of his team’s 5-0 win over Glasgow. “I loved the energy: the possession was great and we didn’t get frustrated. We made good choices with the puck… bided our time and were rewarded.”

However, turmoil in the Braehead Arena boardroom was the lead story. Clan supporters raised thousands of pounds for local rape crisis centres after chief executive Gareth Chalmers and head coach Malcolm Cameron were suspended for recruiting Lasse Uusivirta.

In the National League, the Leeds Knight made it three four-point weekends in a row with back-to-back wins over Bees IHC.
