Breaking: Vegas GM McCrimmon Tests Positive for COVID-19

by

The pandemic is not over, and it’s continuing to leave its impact on the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.

Vegas Golden Knights general manager, Kelly McCrimmon has tested positive for COVID-19, according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie. This is now the second positive test to be registered among personnel from the Vegas-Montreal series, with Canadiens head coach, Dominique Ducharme testing positive two days ago. Ducharme, speaking with the media on Sunday for the first time since his positive test, said he is isolating and will be away from the team for the next 14 days.

In the wake of this news, Lavoie also reported that Golden Knights’ President of Hockey Operations, George McPhee was caught on the broadcast of Friday’s game speaking with McCrimmon without wearing a mask. What impact this could have on his status is unclear, but the NHL is likely to act swiftly to test McPhee in order to keep this situation as contained as possible.

For now, there is no word on what the protocols are for McCrimmon moving forward.

The Golden Knights returned to 100% fan capacity at T-Mobile Arena on May 29th.
