Count on Penguins Keeping Game Close versus Slumping Rangers

Friday has a solid slate of NHL action that should end off your week with something to get excited about heading into the weekend. From the Leafs and Caps to Stars and Golden Knights, we have plenty of opportunities to hit it big and hopefully extend some of our impressive records like our 28-18 record on game total and team unders this season.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Penguins Rangers Under 6.5 goals (-105), Penguins +1.5 (-160)

In a controversial decision, the Rangers are healthy scratching defenceman Jacob Trouba due to roster management as described by TSN’s Chris Johnston. This comes after the team reportedly had their captain potentially on the trade block as general manager Chris Drury was looking to shake up the teams core.

New York currently rides a seven-game losing streak that could get extended for another game as they take on the red hot Pittsburgh Penguins, who have won four straight. The Rangers have won five of their last six games against the Penguins with six of their last eight matchups totaling under seven goals.

We should expect a strong effort out of a Rangers team desperately looking to get back in the win column while the Penguins look to make the uphill climb of getting back into the playoff race after a slow start to the season. The Rangers have the ninth-best goals against average this season at 2.92 and the Penguins have a 2.75 average over their four-game winning streak.

It’s hard to pick a side for this one but the public is all over the Rangers in this spot which makes me believe the Penguins can at least keep things close and cover as the Rangers are 9-15 against the spread this season.
