Hockey Canada announced Saturday that first-year OHL blueliners Sam Dickinson of the London Knights and Henry Mews of the Ottawa 67’s have both been named to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge All-Star Team.
Dickinson’s Canada Black squad placed fourth in the tournament, dropping the Bronze Medal game to Finland by a score of 7-1. The 6-foot-3, 195Ib. 16-year-old from Toronto, Ont. recorded a goal and an assist in seven games. The fourth overall pick of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Dickinson has seven points (3-4–7) through his first 11 games as a member of the London Knights this season.
Mews, who skated for sixth-place Canada White, was among the tournament’s offensive leaders from the blue line with eight points (2-6–8) over six games. His offensive exploits included an overtime winner against Czechia as he wore the ‘C’ for his team throughout the tournament. A 16-year-old from Ottawa, Ont., Mews was the seventh overall pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection and has excelled for his hometown 67’s. The 6-foot, 179Ib. defender has seven points (1-6–7) through his first 11 OHL contests.
Both players return to OHL action this week after standout international performances.
