For the first time in the 21st century, the Florida Panthers will play in a second-round series after knocking off the Washington Capitals.
One of the biggest factors in the Panthers avoiding a Game 7 and advancing was the play of Carter Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe would put up 12 points in the series, but also tied a pretty cool post-season record by scoring a game-winning goal in three straight games, a feat not accomplished since 2011.
It’s rare for a reason, so it’s cool seeing Verhaeghe pulling it off.
A Game Of Languages
The NHL is a global league, featuring players from around the world with different backgrounds. ESPN’s Emily Kaplan has taken the extra mile to thank players all playoffs long for their time after interviews in their native language.
One of the most prominent examples came during one of the intermissions of Game 5 of the Penguins-Rangers series. Kaplan interviewed Rangers forward Filip Chytil and thanked him in Czech afterwards.
It’s always cool to see reporters taking the time to make a player more comfortable in their native language and you can see Chytil appreciated the gesture.
