BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – With the 2021-22 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Hockey regular season in the books, teams will now turn their attention to the all-comers conference playoffs with all eyes on an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Gustavus Adolphus College earned its 17th regular-season title in program history on Thursday and will enter the 2022Â MIAC Women’s Hockey Playoffs with home ice advantage throughout as the No. 1 seed in the field. All ten MIAC women’s hockey programs will compete in the playoffs this year due to COVID-impacted schedules throughout the regular season.

The 2022 conference tournament will begin on Wednesday, February 23 with two opening-round games. No. 7 Bethel will host No. 10 St. Olaf in Blaine, while No. 8 Concordia will welcome No. 9 St. Catherine to Moorhead. The Wildcats and Cobbers will play at 5:00 p.m., while the Royals and Oles drop the puck at 7:00 p.m.
The winners of those two contests will advance on to the quarterfinals on Saturday, February 26. No. 1 Gustavus will host either Concordia or St. Catherine, while No. 2 Hamline will see either Bethel or St. Olaf. Seeds 3 and 4 – Saint Mary’s and St. Scholastica, respectively – already know their opponent for the upcoming weekend, as the No. 3 Cardinals will host No. 6 Saint Benedict, and the No. 4 Saints will match up with No. 5 Augsburg. Saturday game times will be finalized in the coming days.
The quarterfinal victors will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, March 2. The 2022 MIAC Women’s Hockey Playoff Championship will be played on Saturday, March 5 on the home ice of the highest remaining seed. High seeds will host all tournament games. The winner of the playoff championship game will receive the MIAC’s automatic qualifier to the 2022 NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament.
Proper masking is required at all indoor, on-campus MIAC facilities. Ticket prices for all playoff games will be determined at the discretion of the host institution.
