Predators’ Jonathan Marchessault Reaches 500 Points

by admin

Jonathan Marchessault reached 500 career points in the NHL in the Nashville Predators’ loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After such an impressive 2023-24 season, the expectation coming over to Nashville was that it wouldn’t take too long for him to reach the career milestone. But with the struggles of the Predators offensively, Marchessault got the 13 points needed in the 26th game of the season. It was his first point in five games.

Marchessault is coming off a career year where he scored 42 goals, 12 more than his previous career high. He also recorded 69 points, the second highest in his career to the 75 he put up in 2017-18.

The Predators’ veteran and free agent addition has accomplished this milestone while playing for five different team, starting with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and now Nashville.

As far as points are concerned, the undrafted winger’s time with the Blue Jackets doesn’t even matter considering he recorded no points in just two games with the team.

Marchessault essentially got his start in Tampa Bay where he scored seven goals and recorded 18 points in 45 games as a 25-year-old, but broke out the following season with the Panthers, only to be moved over to Vegas where he became a household name.

Across 12 seasons in the NHL, Marchessault has recorded 13 points with the Predators, 19 with the Lightning, 51 with the Panthers, and 417 with the Golden Knights.

Marchessault is in the first year of a four-year deal at $5.5 million AAV and with his production so far this season, it hasn’t been up to standards. The Predators have struggled to score from every part of their lineup, but Nashville is going to have to find ways to score if the season and the team that was built is going to be salvaged at all.
