Sting’s Fischer invited to U.S. Hlinka Gretzky Cup Camp – Ontario Hockey League

USA Hockey announced June 28th that Sarnia Sting blueliner Lukas Fischer is among 38 players invited to the U.S. Hlinka Gretzky Cup Camp.

Players attending the camp that runs from July 20-24 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. are vying for a spot on the American entry for the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup to be held August 1-6 in Breclav, Czechia and Trencin, Slovakia.

A 16-year-old from Brighton, Mich., Fischer joined the Sting as an 11th round pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, and recorded 10 points (3-7–10) over 47 games in 2022-23, also registering a plus/minus rating of plus-17. He recorded an assist in 10 playoff contests.

Fischer, who stands 6-foot-3 and 170Ibs., is the son of former NHL blueliner Jiri Fischer. He is eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft.

The United States is in search of its first Hlinka Gretzky Cup medal since 2016 when they won silver.
