Wild Prospect Makes Immediate Impact In AHL

by admin

In just two games since being sent down from the NHL to the AHL, Minnesota Wild prospect Liam Ohgren has made an immediate impact.

Ohgren, 20, was the Wild’s 19th overall pick from the 2022 NHL draft. He played in the club’s final four games of the season last year and had one goal and one assist. He earned a spot on the opening night roster this year but was a scratch for the first two games.

Following that, Ohgren played the next seven games and then was sent down. In his first game, Ohgren had two shots and was a plus-1. In his second game in the AHL, Ohgren scored.

It was the 6-foot-1 forward’s first career AHL point and first career AHL goal. Considering the Wild are fully healthy right now, the club may opt to keep Ohgren in the AHL so he can get in as many games as he can before the Wild recall him.
