MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its first set of weekly award winners for the 2023-24 season on Monday, with forward Erika Goleniak ’25 earning Player of the Week accolades for Women’s Ice Hockey.

The Canton, Michigan native netted three points to help the No. 12 Soaring Eagles to a 1-1 start to the season at the Utica University Kickoff Tournament.

Goleniak tallied a pair of goals to go along with an assist on Saturday as the Soaring Eagles recorded a 5-0 shutout against Suffolk University. She provided the assist on the eventual game-winning goal and scored her first goal in the final two minutes of the first period. Goleniak then scored the lone goal of the second period to make it 4-0 Elmira.

This is the first NEHC Player of the Week accolade for Goleniak, who twice was named the NEHC Rookie of the Week during the 2021-22 season for the Soaring Eagles.

The NEHC also recognized Leah Bosh from UMass Boston as the Goaltender of the Week and Taylor Adams from Castleton as the Rookie of the Week.

Elmira is set to open NEHC action this weekend as the Purple & Gold travel to New England College on Friday for a 6:00 P.M. faceoff against the Pilgrims. The Soaring Eagles then travel to Norwich on Saturday for a nationally-ranked matchup against the Cadets at 3:00 P.M.
