The Leafs have just one game remaining before they take an eight-day break for the bye week/All-Star break.
And that contest will take place in Winnipeg on Saturday night as they finish up a home and home with the Jets.
Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin subbed in for Jay Rosehill on the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by dissecting Brendan Gallagher’s ugly elbow on Islanders defenceman Adam Pelech on Thursday night in Montreal. Yeah, Gallagher won’t be playing hockey for a while. That was brutal.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Matt’s view of the Maple Leafs with February approaching. He’s been covering the team for a long time, which means he gets to see them routinely in-person at Scotiabank Arena. He has a pretty firm understanding and grasp of this team right now. Most importantly, he was fair with his analysis.
Meantime, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed another battle between the Leafs and Jets. Firstly, Tyler Bertuzzi will be back in the lineup while Ilya Samsonov will make his third consecutive start. Furthermore, it sounds like the Jets could ice a much different and healthier lineup than the one they dressed Wednesday night—one that features the likes of Mark Scheifele, Gabe Vilardi and Connor Hellebuyck. Buckle up. This should be a fun one.
Additionally, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, Breakfast Television co-host Sid Seixeiro stopped by the show. As expected, he came equipped with hot takes that could fuel this show for the next decade. Suffice it is to say, it was a very entertaining chat.
Anthony Stewart will sub in for Jay Rosehill on Monday’s edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET for a full recap of Leafs/Jets, plus an extensive pulse check of the Leafs at the break.
